It’s time to take control of your blood pressure
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, can lead to serious health issues such as stroke, heart attack and kidney disease. People of any age can experience hypertension, however, the risk increases as you get older.
Often there are few signs or symptoms of high blood pressure - that's why it’s important to keep tabs on it with a regular check.
Last year in Hounslow, almost 40,000 residents had been diagnosed with hypertension.
Once identified high blood pressure is easily treated through medication and lifestyle changes. These include eating healthily, being more active, cutting your alcohol intake, reducing the salt in your diet and managing your stress levels.

For national - Know Your Numbers! Week, Hounslow Council and its health partners have made getting your blood pressure checked free and as easy as possible.
Anyone aged over 18 can get a free blood pressure check for Know Your Numbers! Week.
- If you’re aged 18 to 40 you can get your check through Healthy Hounslow. The roving team will be at various locations across the borough during Know Your Numbers! Week. So look out for the locations on Hounslow Council’s social media channels.
- If you’re over 40 you can get a free blood pressure check at any of the 36 participating pharmacies listed on our interactive map below.
Most importantly, you will get some top-notch information and guidance as part of your check, which will let you know what you need to do next to maintain healthy blood pressure or get yours under control.
